Coming Pa Ang Lechon Sir

lechon

Ah.... The ever most popular lechon. The crispy skin, the tender meat, makes mouths water. I had a chance of buying 3 kilos of it last Sunday. Bored as we were that day, my family and I, indulged ourselves with the famous Filipino "cholesterol-packed" goody, Lechon. My aunt just got out from the hospital and, as a celebration of her recovery, she decided to treat us with 3 kilos of crispiness. Unfortunately, I was the one who had to buy it. So there I was inside the jeepney on my way to a famous Lechon restaurant.

When I arrived, I was dumbfounded at the long line that packed the restaurant. There was a priority number, so I picked one and I had a number 48 while the number called was still 1. I began mumbling and told myself that I would look for another store. But, as though something came over and told me to stay put and wait. And sure enough I waited the morning out. To make the situation worse, they ran out of the most sought after part of the Lechon, the belly and ribs. So I still waited till I could get the best part. They then told me "Sir, coming pa raba ang among lechon, maka-wait ka for mga 1 hour?" (Sir our lechon is still coming, would you be able to wait for 1 hour?). I then told them yes, though my stomach was gurgling already. I waited till my lechon arrived, and when it did, I had to wait for another cause there was someone who was before me. The long wait turned out to be a blessing since the first slice of another Lechon was mine. I got the best part of the lechon and I got home in time for lunch.

Waiting seems like a very hard option with the fast-paced life that we have now. Today, everybody seems to be in a hurry to go someplace, to do something, to become somebody and etc. I, for one, am still learning to wait. But the "lechon experience" I had last Sunday made me realize something. To get the best part, you have to wait for it and God will give it to you in "His" time. Maybe what you thought was best for you is not best for him. Build in a hurry and you have a weak foundation, build with patience you will have a foundation stronger than you can ever imagine. Just like buying Lechon. Be in a hurry, you’ll get the feet and bones. But wait long enough and you might just get the best part there is. GOD BLESS.

Romans 8:25

But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.
